The English department at Millsaps College seeks a dynamic teacher and creative media arts storyteller ready to contribute to its growing Communication Studies major. This full-time, tenure track position will begin Fall 2024 and will carry a teaching load of six (6) courses per year.

Candidates should be eager and qualified to teach in the Communication Studies major's conceptual core (which surveys communication theory and media history), and the major's media production sequence, which emphasizes visual and written storytelling. Candidates must also be keen to develop new elective courses in their area of active scholarship and creative practice, contribute to departmental responsibilities for interdisciplinary general education courses, and seek outside community partnerships as appropriate. Salary and benefits are competitive.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Communication, Media Studies, Film Studies or related field by the time of appointment.
  • Expertise in digital film production is preferred
  • Professional publication in one or more of these areas, whether critical or creative, will be required for promotion
  • Commitment to inclusive pedagogy, diversity and equity

  6. samples of scholarly writing and creative work are also required (no more than 25 pages total).
