The School of Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for an Associate Dean. The Associate Dean works closely with the Dean, Chairs, professional advisors, faculty and staff to help realize the vision, mission, and goals of the school. This involves consulting about daily management of three academic departments in which 31 programs are housed. The Associate Dean helps shape the direction of the School of Education by collaborating with the Dean in all phases of personnel and resource planning. This includes assuming the role of acting Dean in the absence or in the event the Dean cannot perform the Dean's duties.

Responsibilities
Administration - 50%
The salary range for this position is $101,500 - $135,500. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.

Responsibilities
Administration - 50%
- Assists with management of personnel matters in the School of Education with a focus on inclusivity and equity (ADA issues, staffing, and scheduling,).
- Conducts supervision and evaluation of staff and Lecturers (Lecturer personnel).
- Oversees and supervises the Director of Graduate Programs for the School of Education.
- Oversees the School of Education Student Services Office to ensure accurate and accessible assistance is provided to a diverse student population.
- Represents the Dean and SOE overall on various university committees.
- Assists the Dean in recruiting and retaining diverse students, staff, and faculty.
- Collaborates with the designated Associate Deans in other colleges and schools on campus in the administration of shared programs at the undergraduate and graduate level.
- Oversees student issues and complaints.
- Collaborates with School of Education Directors to ensure cohesive and efficient programming.
- Collaborates with staff, department chairs, and directors to oversee and direct all School of Education assessment efforts.
- Oversees and directs all Teacher Education state and national accreditation efforts.
- Oversees the University program review process.
- Remains current in knowledge of state requirements and proposed changes to state requirements.
- Works closely with department chairs and faculty in the supervision of curriculum development, review, and implementation and develop new graduate and undergraduate programs that will align with state and national trends to enact the SOE vision and mission.
- Ensures compliance with state authorization requirements and University requirements.
- Works with the designated Associate Deans in other colleges and schools on campus to mediate conflicts related to curriculum and course offerings.
- Works with the Office Graduate Studies to assist with graduate program leadership.
- I.e., teach one class per year if needed.
- Terminal degree in Education/related field
- Experience providing leadership
- Experience providing supervision and performance management for faculty and staff
- Must have demonstrated experience conducting program evaluation and assessment
- Meets qualifications for tenure in one of the SOE departments
- At least three years of successful academic administrative experience at the level of department chair or above
- Experience developing, reviewing, and implementing curriculum
- Experience in urban higher education demonstrating the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population
- Knowledge of and experience with assessment and accreditation processes
- Successful experience in developing undergraduate and/or graduate programs
- Experience effectively mediating student concerns
- Demonstrable record of successful outreach to and retention of students and faculty of color
- Experience with curriculum from a perspective that includes diverse students and first generation students
- Demonstrable record of community engagement, e.g., outreach to K-12 schools, partnerships for community-based research projects, service learning courses, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and dedication to undergraduate and graduate teaching and learning
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience and knowledge of national and state accreditation standards
- Meets qualifications to be a Full Professor in one of the SOE departments
