Position Announcement

Assist the Director of Purchasing in administrative functions and in campus ordering and purchasing needs. Additional information about the Purchasing Office can be found online at https://employees.utahtech.edu/business-services/purchasing/.

Responsibilities
  • Review requisitions and create purchase orders for all University Departments.
  • Work closely with vendors to purchase goods and services; monitor order status and work with Accounts Payable and individual departments as necessary.
  • Assist with the Purchasing Card (PCard) program, including opening/closing PCard user accounts, providing account maintenance, and assisting departments in the reconciliation process.
  • Maintain updated vendor information within the University's finance system.
  • Create and manage online accounts for online vendors.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Purchasing and assist other Business Services areas as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or vocational/technical school degree required. A combination of college coursework and experience will also be considered.
  • At least one (1) year related experience required; experience working in high-volume purchasing or in a higher education business environment preferred.
  • Experience with purchasing policies and procedures in a public agency preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Adobe Acrobat DC required. Ellucian Banner Finance experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and correspondence forms.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and exercise basic human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with the University community.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time classified staff (overtime-eligible) position. Annual salary of $36,000 - $38,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date of January 2024.
