Job Summary:
Purdue University Global offers term by term, non-tenured teaching appointments to qualified individuals who are dedicated to providing quality educational experiences to students in Associates, Bachelors and Masters degree programs. What to expect in this role:- Providing a learning environment that supports student success.
- Conducting 1 hour weekly synchronous seminars, typically structured in 10-week units, as designated by the school or program.
- Maintaining school-determined virtual office hours per week for each class.
- Ensuring timely management and response to electronic correspondence from students, administrators, and other school officials.
- Leading message board discussions and engaging students in relevant discussion and coursework.
- Partnering with Academic Advisors to proactively address student concerns or challenges.
- Maintaining accurate and timely records for student grades and progress and submitting these reports as required.
- Delivering mid-term and final grades in accordance with the academic calendar.
- Enforcing student conduct policies as outlined in the University Catalog.
- Participating in university, departmental, and faculty meetings as requested, contributing to the academic community.
- Remain current with trends, techniques, and advances in distance learning.
- Actively participate in additional duties as requested by the school, eg. subject matter experts in course revisions.
- A master's or terminal degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or Health Information Technology.
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). For MBCC: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician (CCS-P)
- Prior online teaching experience at the college or university level, in the field of Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or Health Information Technology. For MBCC: Prior online teaching experience at a college or university level in the field of Medical Coding or Healthcare Reimbursement.
- A minimum of three to five years of relevant professional experience in Health Information Management or a related field, such as Health Informatics. For MBCC: A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in medical coding or reimbursement.
- Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in current Health Information Management principles, practices, and technologies.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Medical coding for MBCC program.
- Experience in health data analytics, data security, and health information system management.
- Exceptional computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications and Zoom meeting technology. Experience with Brightspace education software is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex concepts to students and colleagues.
- A dedication to student success and the ability to engage and inspire students in the classroom.
- A willingness to work as part of a team and collaborate with other faculty members to enhance student learning experiences.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current in the field of Health Information Management.
- A strong commitment to ethical and professional standards in Health Information Management and the ability to instill these values in students.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment, across diverse teams, departments, and Schools.

- This is a remote position; no relocation required. Candidates must be based in and legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Adjunct compensation varies per course based on student enrollment, program type and also includes a contribution to a retirement account. A typical adjunct in the School of Health Sciences can expect to receive $2800 per full 10-week course. Retirement account benefits include an automatic 403(b) company contribution of 3% and a company match up to an additional 4% with participation in an optional 457(b) plan.
