Position Summary
Austin Peay State University is currently seeking part-time, temporary, adjunct instructors in the area of Culinary Arts. The Department offers both online and on-campus courses and an ability to teach both is prized.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
* Prepare all course materials and lessons for assigned sections
* Deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom or online environment conducive to learning
* Provide students with clear course expectations, evaluations and timelines through an approved, standardized syllabus
* Ensure that students are complying with department dress code and culinary lab policies as well as completing all course assignments and course preparation
* Administer and grade quizzes, assessments and exams to evaluate and document achievement
* Ensure that the culinary lab and classroom are left clean and organized
* Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus
* Maintain proper records of each student's progress and have them accessible to the student
* Complete grading and provide student feedback on a timely basis
* Consult with the program director, culinary faculty, and/or other appropriate university personnel on questions or issues involving course curricula, instructional strategies, and university policies and procedures
* Respond to requests (e.g., from students, academic area chairs, department heads, committee chairs, registrar's office) in a timely and thorough manner

Required Minimum Qualifications

- Associates degree in Culinary Arts from an accredited institution
- At least three (3) years culinary industry experience
- Servsafe Manager Certification, or willingness to obtain within six months
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and a strong desire to teachA background search will be required of the successful applicant.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
- Previous teaching experience
- Five (5) years industry or business experience in the teaching subject area
- ACF Certification
- Experience with D2L or other learning management system
- Experience working with individuals from diverse academic backgrounds and life experiences
