Job Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to help define and direct the technology path for the newly opened Miller Advanced Research and Solutions (MARS) Center. The candidate will participate at the cutting edge of manufacturing of advanced composite structures for high temperature and harsh environments. The Center will be an innovative space to develop new ideas and capabilities for manufacturing and evaluation of high temperature composites while engaging with academia, industry, and government partners to ensure relevant and responsive projects and proposals. Teamwork and collaboration with MARS Center personnel, curriculum and syllabus development, leading projects with students and faculty, and instruction will be key functions of the position. Other responsibilities include training support, curriculum development, and lab management for the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Required:

  • A PhD degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) program from an accredited university or college.
  • A minimum five years of relevant experience in composite materials manufacturing, testing, or evaluation or related field.
  • Experience in planning, developing, and managing projects.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred:

  • Experience in writing proposals and grants for new funding opportunities.
  • Experience in creating course materials for high temperature materials.
  • Experience with high temperature materials (composites, ceramics, carbon/carbon, ceramic matrix composites, thermal protection systems)
  • Experience with curriculum development for university course and lab work.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
