Job Description

The Extension Coordinator will provide support to the Associate Director for Economy, Community, and Food and the Program & Employee Development unit. The Extension Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating major events including the VCE Winter Conference, Program Development Insitute, the New ANR Agent Onboarding Program, volunteer management training and other statewide events. This position will develop and maintain a tracking system for short and long term VCE employee onboarding and maintain the internal professional development calendar along with other web-based content. The Extension Coordinator will also provide administration and leadership for VCE awards and recognition programs such as the VCE Programming Awards, Alumni Association Extension Excellence Award, Sunbelt Southeastern Farmer of the Year Program, and others. The Extension Coordinator will assist with state level special projects involving internal and external partners. May serve as an organizational representative at partner meetings throughout the state as needed. Prepare marketing and evaluation materials; assist with design and updates of website and social media, and; other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Interested candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelors' degree (BA or BS) in a relevant discipline with significant professional experience. Demonstrated ability and experience planning, coordinating, and managing large events and projects in a professional setting. Ability to lead groups, plan, implement, and carry projects through to completion. Knowledge and use of computer technology in educational programming and management. Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse audiences. Ability to work with minimal supervision in an unstructured setting. Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends with occasional overnight travel. Must be willing to work as a team member with VCE faculty and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

-Professional Cooperative Extension experience
-Demonstrated skills planning events for a large, disbursed organization
-Proficiency with systems such as Banner, Hokiemart, Canvas, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.
