Assistant Director of Admissions, Recruiter
Position purpose
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic professional to join our Admissions team as the Assistant Director of Admissions, Recruiter. In this full-time role, you will serve as a vital link between Vaughn College and high schools, playing a significant role in our mission to recruit students for our Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
As the Assistant Director of Admissions, Recruiter, your primary responsibilities will include:
Academic Advising Strategy Development:
- Assist students in setting and pursuing academic and career goals, ensuring a seamless transition from high school to higher education.
- Implement and assess strategies to provide dedicated academic advising to STEM pathway students and will work with all relevant Vaughn advising programs and centers.
Student Outreach/Recruitment
- Collaborate with high schools to establish and nurture partnerships that facilitate the recruitment of prospective students interested in STEM programs at Vaughn College.
- Organize and participate in outreach events, including career fairs, information sessions, and campus tours, to attract and engage potential STEM students.
- Maintain regular communication with high school counselors, educators, and prospective students, providing accurate information about Vaughn College's STEM programs and admission requirements.
- Assist students in setting and achieving academic and career goals, ensuring a seamless transition from high school to higher education.
- Deliver informative presentations to students, faculty, and staff at community colleges, highlighting the benefits of enrolling in Vaughn.
- Review student applications and make admissions decisions.
Program Assessment:
- Continuously assess the effectiveness of advising strategies and initiatives, making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor cohort progress and outcomes to identify areas for enhancement.
- Complete and provide a monthly time and effort activity report to the grant team.

Education and/or Experience Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree required
- Admissions/recruitment experience is required
- Experience in academic advising or student support is preferred.
Professional Skills
- Strong interpersonal and writing skills are necessary. The ability to speak publicly and present Vaughn College in a positive way to diverse populations is mandatory.
Reasoning Ability
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships.
- Knowledge of STEM educational pathways and transfer processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.
Work environment and physical functions
This position requires travel to off campus locations and to load and transport admissions materials, displays and other equipment with their own vehicle. A valid state issued driver’s license is required. Some evening and weekend hours will be required, especially during travel and open house season.
Preferred:
Fluency in Spanish
