Graduate & Professional Studies Recruitment and Advising Director
The Graduate & Professional Studies Recruitment and Advising Director has the primary responsibility to provide a full range of support services for students in graduate and professional studies programs throughout their educational journey at Culver-Stockton College. This position will serve multiple roles including recruiting, advising and retention activities, assisting with registration, maintaining, and updating academic records, and providing technical assistance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies in the development of strategic recruitment plans for enrollment of graduate and adult students.
- Coordinates and implements on-campus, off-campus, and virtual graduate and adult student recruitment activities working with Program Directors for each Master’s program.
- Works with Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies in developing articulation and partnership agreements between the college and tri-state area community colleges.
- Visits major employers in the tri-state area and plans, coordinates and implements lunch and learn activities to enhance organizational partnerships.
- Reaches out through varying modalities (phone, email, online chat, video conferencing, etc.) of contact to former C-SC students, who left in good standing, for degree completion opportunities.
- Manages all aspects of the admissions process for graduate and adult students assuring they understand all required materials and steps for admission.
- Communicates regularly with graduate and adult students to advise them of academic program requirements, registration dates, tutoring, counseling, career services and other relevant information.
- Coordinates credit for prior learning for adult learners, including faculty training and portfolio assessment.
- Uses student information systems to maintain electronic files.
- Assists with monitoring academic performance; responds to, and works to resolve graduate and adult student concerns, questions, or issues.
- Provides exceptional customer service and daily technical support through varying modalities (phone, email, online chat, video conferencing, etc.) of contact to graduate and adult students.
- Works to ensure ongoing satisfaction for graduate and adult students with their program and degree progress, provides follow up to ensure satisfaction with and effectiveness of services, and utilizes a variety of data and programmatic direction to promote academic success.
- Monitors measurable goals and objectives for learner persistence and program completion.
- Keeps current with C-SC policies, procedures, and curriculum changes.
- Attends and participates in professional development designed to keep abreast of changes in the profession.
- Attends the Graduate and Professional Studies Committee meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communication, psychology, counseling, education, social work, or a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of adult learner development and academic theories, methodologies, and current practices in higher education.
- Minimum of two years’ relevant experience in a service oriented higher education environment or educational setting that demonstrates skills in academic recruiting, advising, learner support services, and retention practices preferred.
- Experience working with a constituent relationship management (CRM) and a student information system (SIS) (e.g., Jenzabar®, etc.). preferred.
- Understanding of comprehensive graduate and adult student support in an educational environment preferred.
- Entry-level knowledge of military voluntary education program requirements, SOC processes and tuition assistance preferred.
- Entry-level knowledge of financial aid services and requirements preferred.
- Possess excellent customer service and effectively communicate with learners and other stakeholders.
- Ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across departments and teams.
- Ability to interpret, apply and abide by the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and confidentiality issues.
- Must possess an understanding and enthusiasm for the mission and vision of Culver-Stockton College.
- An ability and willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, and other times outside of normal working hours to meet with prospective learners and during special programs/events.
