Position Highlights

The Department of Physiology in the College of Medicine - Tucson campus is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate I to join the lab of Associate Professor Shaowen Bao. The purpose of this position is to lead the investigation of interactions among Covid-19 vaccines, Covid-19 infection and the risks of tinnitus and auditory processing disorder. The candidate is expected to design/plan/conduct electronic surveys, and retrieve/analyze information from existing databases.

The position is for 1 year, with the possibility of extension.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, design, and conduct electronic surveys on interactions among Covid-19 vaccines, Covid-19 infection and tinnitus/auditory processing disorder. Analyze survey results.
  • Retrieve and analyze relevant information from existing databases such as VAERS.
  • Author, co-author, present and co-present research results with principal investigators at meetings or conferences and for publications.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to guide the work of others who perform essentially the same work. May organize, set priorities, schedule and review work.
  • Ability to plan and direct the day-to-day work of staff and students to meet job function standards and outcomes. Trains staff and students, establishes and communicates performance expectation.
  • Expected to independently propose solutions to problems for manager review, requiring innovation and creativity.
  • Responsible for reviewing the effectiveness of programs, projects, or systems within own group / function, and making necessary adjustments.
  • Can routinely interact with peers and direct management. Exchanges information with other departments or external contacts to perform role and achieve objectives. May coordinate own work with that of other work groups.
  • Ability to work under minimal guidance and assigned in the form of desired expectations. Ability to use independent judgment to determine best approach and creativity is expected to achieve maximum results and handle new situations.
    Should possess complete knowledge of all job functions. Exhibits ability to transfer knowledge and application of complex principles, theories and concepts to peers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in a physiological sciences or related field required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in public health or epidemiology is preferred.
  • Prior experience with epidemiological studies is preferred.
