Position Summary
The Department of Health and Human Performance is seeking qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor. Primary duties include teaching, supervising, and advising graduate students in the Master of Speech-Language Pathology program. The Department seeks candidates who are committed to student learning and excellence in clinical education. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and have evidence of experiences with research, diverse clinical experiences, and an area of clinical expertise.
About the Department:
The Department of Health and Human Performance serves approximately 600 students across two undergraduate and four graduate programs. The Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance has concentrations in Communication Sciences & Disorders, Healthcare Management, K-12 Teaching, Public Health, and Sport and Wellness Specialist. The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology has concentrations in Exercise Science and Pre-professional. The Department also offers four Master's degrees: Master of Speech-Language Pathology, Master of Public Health, Master of Healthcare Administration, and a Master of Science in Health and Human Performance.

- Advising students
- Holding required office hours
- Showing evidence of scholarly productivity
- Contributing to the Master of Speech-Language Pathology program mission and goals
- Teaching courses in the communication sciences and disorders concentration.
Potential for excellence in teaching, advising students, scholarly production, service to the program, department, University, and profession.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Earned Doctorate with an emphasis in speech-language pathology or a related field with a concentration in the discipline of speech-language pathology. Candidates who are currently ABD will be considered if all degree requirements are completed by the date of hire, August 1, 2024.
- The candidate must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and the potential to develop an active research program.
- Current ASHA certification (CCC-SLP) with a minimum of two years practice experience post-certification, and eligibility for TN state licensure is required.
