Position Highlights

The University of Arizona Libraries seeks a creative, collaborative, and resourceful Electronic Resources Librarian/Specialist. The Electronic Resources Librarian/Specialist, as part of the Discovery Unit within the Collection Services department, leads the effort to provide continual, reliable, and seamless access to the Libraries' electronic resources. The successful candidate will be responsible for the lifecycle of the Libraries' licensed electronic resources including onboarding, maintenance, troubleshooting, and offboarding. Additionally, in collaboration with the Libraries' IT and Discovery Unit team members, the Electronic Resources Librarian/Specialist handles Tier 1 support for the authentication, including EZProxy and SSO.

This is a continuing-eligible or continuing status track, academic professional position. Incumbents are members of the general faculty and are entitled to all accompanying rights and privileges granted by the Arizona Board of Regents and the University of Arizona. Duties & Responsibilities

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

  • Manages
    access to electronic resources in collaboration with other stakeholders.
  • Responsible
    for documenting and managing library entitlements (own, subscribe, etc.) and access
    models.
  • Leads
    the management of the Libraries' knowledgebases of electronic resources (Alma,
    OCLC, etc.).
  • Explores,
    evaluates, recommends, and implements
    updated services and systems to meet the needs of the Libraries' users.
  • Troubleshoots
    and problem-solves access-related issues surfaced by customers.
  • Establishes
    and maintains relationships with customers, vendors, and publishers to learn
    about new products available to meet information needs, advocates for
    development or improvement of products to better meet customer needs, and
    enhances customer discovery of resources needed for their research.
  • Creates,
    updates, and collaborates on electronic resources lifecycle workflows.
  • Creates
    and maintains documentation relevant to electronic resources lifecycle
    workflows.
  • Collaborates
    with the University of Arizona Health Sciences Library Electronic Resources
    Coordinator on access and troubleshooting health sciences specific resources.
  • Maintains
    the Libraries' A-Z Electronic Resources List.
  • As a member of the library
    profession, the Library Faculty Assembly, and the general faculty of the
    University of Arizona, actively contributes to the library profession through
    research, service, and scholarship, and engages in faculty governance of the
    Libraries and the University through service in the Library Faculty Assembly
    and on appropriate University committees.
  • The UA Libraries support the UA's

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree
    in library/information science from an ALA-accredited institution or an
    advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Evidence of the ability to achieve continuing status
    (equivalent to tenure), including contributing to the information/library
    profession and to fulfilling the responsibilities of a library faculty member
    through service and scholarship.
  • Experience with electronic resources access management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with the Alma/Primo Library Services Platform.
  • Experience editing EZProxy configuration files.
  • Experience with and knowledge of the OpenURL standard and how link resolvers work, including troubleshooting linking problems.
  • Experience working in an academic library.
  • Experience cataloging and applying descriptive metadata.
