Job Description

The Fiscal Technician provides fiscal support for the Department of Biological Sciences. Duties include travel/non-travel reimbursement entry in ChromeRiver, ordering/receiving supplies utilizing HokieMart, wage payroll processing/reconciliation, preparing fund reconciliations, VT Foundation transaction entry/fund reconciliations, monthly purchasing card reconciliations, labor redistribution entry, distribution of keys, receiving packages, assist with maintenance of departmental financial, payroll, and grant records. Position reports to the Biological Sciences Business Manager and will provide backup support to other fiscal and administrative staff, and department head's staff, as needed.

Required Qualifications

Experience providing fiscal support in an academic or professional office setting. Experience with bookkeeping and accounting functions. Demonstrated ability to multi-task, with strong analytical skills while problem-solving. Computer proficiency with software such as MS Word, Excel, Google, Adobe. Experience with computer functions such as data entry, creation of spreadsheets, and use of email. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must have strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact respectfully and comfortably with all individuals in a diverse, multicultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with University fiscal and administrative procedures. Working knowledge of sponsored program funds. Experience working with Banner, HokieMart, TimeClock Plus, ChromeRiver, and the VT Labor Redistribution System
