Job Description

Position reports to the Associate Vice Provost of Enrollment Management for Professionally Oriented Graduated Programs (PGP), and working in close collaboration with graduate program directors and the Graduate School. The Slate Administrator for PGP's performs software maintenance, enhancements, and configurations necessary to ensure reliable business workflow in Slate environments to support various business processes including expanding CRM functionality to new and continuing students, student recruitment, event management, admission application submission, admission application review, and document management. This position will serve as a primary contact with the vendor when needed and collaborate with other administrators in providing Slate services, including support and training of slate captains as needed. Serving as a technical subject matter expert for Slate, this position will propose functional enhancements, provide guidance on new and better methods for configuring Slate to meet PGPs needs, coordinate with Information Technology services and functional areas across campus, troubleshoot Slate-related production issues, and provide user documentation and training. This position will be located in Blacksburg,VA.

Required Qualifications

Earned Bachelor's degree. Experience with customer relationship management systems. Relevant work experience in project management providing technical and operational support in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated skills in the use of cross-platform information management, through integrated and relational databases and vendor software. Good communication skills. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement and make informed decisions in complex situations. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, web technology, or related field. Proficiency with SQL, systems/technology integration, spreadsheets, database applications, programming/scripting, html, xml, and other web technologies. Experience working with higher education student systems, including but not limited to CRMs, admissions systems, and student information systems such as Banner. Experience using the Slate CRM software in an administrative capacity.
