Full Time Faculty Positions – Mathematics

Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) invites applications for two full time positions in mathematics. Depending on the qualifications of the candidate, the appointments can be at the assistant or associate professor level on the tenure track or at the instructor level not on the tenure track. The university is especially interested in teaching-focused faculty who are excellent in the classroom and online. LSUA is partnering with LSU to offer the BS in Mathematics online and will count on the new hire to play a vital role in that partnership. The ideal candidate will have the ability to offer quality instruction in a wide range of undergraduate mathematics courses. Qualifications: For a tenure track position, a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field is required. ABD will be considered if the PhD is completed by the time of hire. For the instructor position a graduate degree with at least 18 hours in mathematics (not mathematics education) is required.
Responsibilities:Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Develops and teaches face-to-face and online courses as assigned
- Maintains high standards of instruction
- Regularly keeps office hours and is receptive to students both in person and electronically
- Offers quality academic advising to students
- Actively serves on university committees and participates in institutional meetings
- Assists with curriculum development
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor
This position entails sixty percent teaching, twenty percent scholarly activities, and twenty percent community/university service.
