Job Summary

The Associate Dean of Allied Health understands, promotes, and executes the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the Division of Instruction, Arapahoe Community College, and the Colorado Community College System with the goal of achieving instructional outcomes that align with the Colorado Department of Higher Education. This visible position represents the College to internal and external stakeholders and the community. The Associate Dean provides direction, and allocates time to developing internal and external partnerships, especially those related to development of educational partnerships which support student success.

The College is looking for a successful experienced leader who will be viewed by colleagues as an advocate for student success. The individual will be described by others as having integrity, empathy, humility and a strong commitment to continuous improvement and lifelong learning. Demonstrable evidence in achieving the institution's vision and upholding instruction's mission and guiding principles are cornerstones of this position. Additionally, this position requires someone who holds teamwork in the highest of regard in working directly with faculty, students and staff for all College divisions. This position in conjunction with the other Instructional and Associate Deans will assist with prioritization of instructional strategies and the future of instruction based on current and emerging needs.

The Associate Dean of Allied Health will work directly with faculty, department chairs, deans, and College division directors to ensure instructional processes and operational workflows are coherent, clear, consistent, and timely. This position will lead and supervise faculty, support professionals and work collaboratively with Instruction, student services, and administrative staff to establish an environment supportive of all instructional initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form as appropriate for the audience's needs.

  • Knowledge of student development theory, techniques, and research associated with ensuring the success of diverse student populations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strategic partnerships with various stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a Health-related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years supervisory experience in an educational or health setting including hiring, training, developing, managing, and evaluating staff. 
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching & learning environment.
  • Experience in budget preparation and management. 
  • Experience with the accreditation process
Preferred Qualifications
  • Possesses and maintains a current unencumbered credential or certification in good standing to practice within a Health field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues and trends in higher education that affect budgets, policies, student services, tuition models, and instructional strategies.
  • Experience teaching in a post-secondary environment.
  • Experience integrating current technology to enhance productivity and facilitate learning.
  • Demonstrated success in curriculum and program development incorporating adult learning theory.
  • Extensive experience in developing, maintaining, and strengthening partnerships with external organizations and agencies, especially other postsecondary institutions, and accreditation and regulatory agencies.
  • Grant management experience.
Physical & Cognitive Demands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Salary Range 

Salary range for this position is $83,336 - $93,337, commensurate with education and experience. AP 3-45 provides information regarding salary placement and adjustments. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
