The Planetary Image Research Laboratory, at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, is seeking a qualified candidate to help manage the systems, software, applications, and networks for various space-based missions featuring high-resolution multi-spectral imagers. Included is support for image target planning, uplink, downlink, and systematic data processing for the HiRISE instrument presently in orbit around Mars on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO), the CaSSIS instrument aboard the ESA's trace Gas Orbiter, the LROC instrument aboard the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, plus other various missions and mission planning concepts.Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and vision

Duties & Responsibilities
- Independently implements, supports, and administers the configuration security and maintenance of Linux-based processing systems. Oversees the installation, configuration, and maintenance of MacOS and various flavors of Unix/Linux operating system workstations and servers.
- Provides key contributions to design, implementation, and assessment of mission networking and security strategies and solutions. Conducts routing hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
- Takes a leading role in the communication of policies, standards, and processes to team members and other key stakeholders.
- Research and perform applications update and installs in support of processing and analysis requirements for various projects. Provide standard user assistance when needed and other IT related duties as necessary.
- Manage storage arrays, replication backups, and long-term archiving of systems and project datasets.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Ability to communicate with an extremely diverse clientele to provide support and identify and solve problems.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative in researching and implementing solutions in a collaborative manner.
- Knowledge of DNS and BIND9 configuration files, understanding of DNS network views a plus.
- Knowledge of and management of networked filesystems in distributed networks.
- Understanding of systems and networks in a diverse Unix-based environment including virtualized server management.
- Understanding of both IPv4 and IPv6 networking and routing.
- Understanding of various Unix and Linux-based operating systems.
- Understanding and implementation of firewalls, network, and port address translation rules.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with source code control systems such as gitlab.
- Scripting experience in Bash, TCSH, PERL, and Python.
- LDAP management experience.
- Experience managing, backing up, and restoring large RAID systems.
