Research and Instructional Technology Librarian
Marymount Manhattan College is seeking a dynamic and tech-savvy librarian to fill the role of Research and Instructional Technology Librarian. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive support services and research assistance to our diverse community of students, faculty, and staff. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in both in-person and online library initiatives, contributing to the enhancement of teaching and learning experiences through innovative practices and effective use of technology. Reporting to the Director of the Library, the Research and Instructional Technology Librarian will collaborate closely with faculty, students, and various college departments to promote online learning initiatives, information literacy, facilitate faculty development, and contribute to the overall educational mission. This is a full-time non-tenured staff position.
Salary: $70,000
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide faculty with support with the design of online and blended courses, including the articulation of learning objectives, development of assessments and assignments, and planning of learning activities;
- In collaboration with the Center for Teaching Innovation and Excellence (C-TIE), IT, and the library, plan, implement, and assess online and in-person training modules in LMS, video conferencing and other instructional technologies for use in online and blended courses;
- Engage faculty to deliver workshops across the disciplines in instructional technology, providing instruction, and best practices for virtual learning, in one-on-one consultation or small groups;
- Design and facilitate professional development events and resources for instructors with a particular emphasis on skills and strategies for online and in-class teaching, both for the entire campus community and for particular departments;
- Provide consultations for faculty to facilitate enhancing and documenting student learning to incorporate High Impact Practices and diversity and inclusivity through course design and curricular programs;
- Provide library services including both in-person and remote reference and research services;
- Handle Inter Library Loan requests
- Work evening hours and weekends as needed.
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Significant experience in online education at the post-secondary level
- Proficiency in use of Brightspace Learning Management System (or similar system), video conferencing and other technologies commonly used to support teaching and learning;
- Formal coursework or other training in instructional design;
- Familiarity with eLearning platforms, standards, and practices;
- Experience in planning, implementing, evaluating and assessing educational development programs;
- Experience working with and supporting third-party integrations (LTIs and various Web Services; SIS data and network authentication);
- Ability to work with faculty, staff, and students with varying levels of technology skillsets;
- Proficiency with HTML and CSS;
- Knowledge of SQL and data handling;
- Knowledge of reference/instructional services and trends in academic libraries to support undergraduates.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Library Sciences from an ALA-accredited institution
- 3-5 years of experience in educational/instructional technology support in a higher education setting
