The Assistant Professor of English candidate will teach introductory literature and first year writing courses and advanced undergraduate courses in the area of specialization. The successful candidate will have a 4/4 teaching load; develop and/or teach undergraduate courses in American Literature and Minority/African American Literature and Studies; maintain office hours; serve on departmental and university committees; provide community service; demonstrate willingness to use instructional technology in all courses (face-to-face, hybrid, and online); participate in university functions (including student advising/mentoring); participate in the governance of the college at the department, discipline, campus, and college-wide levels; perform other duties within scope of this position as assigned by the supervisor; and develop and/or maintain a record of professional development/scholarship in the field of study. Tenure track.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum: Completion of Ph.D. in English, with specializations in American Literature and Minority/African American Literature and Studies; record of effective pedagogy in these or related areas; excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. ABD candidates with a firmly established dissertation defense date may be considered. Record of publications and/or presentations required for tenure consideration.

Preferred: Demonstrated research expertise in American Literature and Minority/African American Studies or related fields.
