Job Summary:
Lead the Electrical Engineering major and teach Electrical Engineering courses and labs
Responsibilities:
- Teach classroom-based, primarily in-person, undergraduate electrical engineering courses and labs, as the lead instructor for upper-level courses in the Electrical Engineering major. In some cases, these courses and labs will be simultaneously suitable for majors in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, applied physics or physics. Occasionally teach lower-level engineering courses or physics labs
- Develop an active research program and/or establish collaborations with industry, primarily to guide undergraduate students in research and design projects
- Participate in departmental and university service responsibilities, such as advising students, maintaining teaching and research lab facilities, performing program accreditation assessments, and fulfilling committee assignments
- Contribute to an academic environment that seeks to advance inclusive excellence in the department and the discipline
Skills:
- Ability to teach standard undergraduate electrical engineering courses and their associated labs, such as Microprocessors, Digital Electronics, Analog Electronics, Circuit Analysis and Simulations, Signals and Systems, Control Systems, and Engineering Design
- Demonstrated leadership abilities to support the responsibility of leading the Electrical Engineering major
- Understanding of the integrated and complementary nature of physics and engineering
Experience:
- Experience as a practicing engineer in industry required; some experience after obtaining Ph.D. preferred
- Demonstrated leadership traits preferred
- Experience with ABET accreditation preferred
Education:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field, with strong preference being given to candidates also holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
