Job Description Summary:
Tenure track appointments are full-time with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions, performing beyond expected duties, and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University.
The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. Significant contributions in professional and academic service are required for both paths.
Job Description:
Required Qualifications:
- Education: M.D., D.O. or equivalent and ABPN board certification/board eligibility in General Psychiatry. The candidate must hold a medical license (or be eligible for licensure) in the State of Kansas.
- Work Experience: 1 - 3 years in an academic teaching center and psychiatric consultation experience.
- Provide direct patient care within the Consult and Liaison service areas to include medical complexity patients, particularly in the inpatient hospital setting.
- Provide teleconsultation to affiliated facilities.
- Provide clinical supervisory responsibility of resident physicians in an outpatient setting and conducting your own private faculty clinic.
- Generate a clinical practice that provides an excellent educational experience for psychiatry resident physicians, psychology trainees and students.
- Teach resident physicians, psychology trainees and students in areas of faculty's expertise in didactic lectures and clinical settings.
- Work effectively within the health systems and with external agencies to facilitate continuity of patient care and follow-up.
- Participate in departmental activities, faculty meetings and other hospital and medical school committees as assigned and continuing education activities.
- Participating in weekend call, ECT rotation and continuous performance improvement.
- Scholarly and research activities in areas of your interests and expertise that support the Department's mission are encouraged. These are often generally related to your clinical or teaching interests and may be quality initiatives or support of departmental research projects.
